Obituary

Pastor Giovanni (John) Amato age 72 of Mesa, AZ. Son of John and Anna Amato. Born March 30, 1951 in Detroit, MI. Passed away suddenly on April 20, 2023 after a long battle of cancer. He was survived by his loving wife Dallas Amato (his doll). Father of seven children, Chris Amato, Dina Amato Capizzi, Dominic Amato and spouse, Michael Giovanni Amato, Donnie Winter, Chris Winter and spouse, and Renee Winter-Ramirez, fifteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by his sisters Mary Ann Amato Tuttle, Rose Amato Profita and spouse Bernie, Nancy Amato Mcginess and spouse Dennis and Brother Anthony Amato and Spouse Terri. He was an uncle and God father to many. He truly loved his family and will be missed by all. Giovanni was an evangelist and Pastor for over 43 years. He studied and received his Doctorates degree, Bachelor and Masters in Biblical study. His mission in life was to serve the Lord. He traveled to 87 countries preaching the gospel and touching many lives. He opened up church and orphanages in Russia, Mexico and the Philippines.

He was also an accomplished saxophone player and singer who had the honor of playing for President Ronald Reagans inauguration ceremony. He was a master scuba diver and a Harley Davidson rider. His biggest joy in life was spending it with his doll (Dallas).

  3. I had the pleasure of being the drummer in John’s band for 2 years back in Tucson in the late 70s.What a great musician and wonderful person. We shared good times during those 2 years. He is missed by many and did so many good things for many people. I was glad that I spoke to him a couple of times before he passed. My deepest sympathy to all family members.Rest in peace John.
